Admission Requirements

Any student who is physically capable, of normal intelligence, at least 16 years of age and not under the jurisdiction of any secondary school is eligible for enrollment. When applicable, students need to bring a copy of their high school diploma or GED. Students who do not meet these requirements will be interviewed by a school official to determine capabilities. Previous horseshoeing training or education does not count for graduation requirements at OSHS. To enroll, complete the enclosed application and return with the deposit of $250.00. A confirmation letter and receipt will be returned to you by mail. The balance owed to the school is due before student begins class the first day.

OSHS does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, ethnic origin or religion.

EXTRA EXPENSES

Items of extra expense to the student such as housing, board, instructional supplies or equipment, tools, student activities, laboratory fees, service charges, rentals, deposits, and all other extra charges need not be considered in tuition refund computations provided they are separately identified in the enrollment agreement, catalog, and in other published data furnished the student before enrollment.

GRADING AND SATISFACTORY PROGRESS

A minimum passing grade of 75% out of a possible 100% is required on all examinations and assignments. If a student scores below our high standards, we will work with him/her as much as needed until a passing grade is achieved. A student is dismissed by the school when it is clear that he/she is unable to satisfactorily acquire the knowledge and skills required to be a competent horseshoer.
