Attendance and Probation Policies

It is not our policy to terminate enrollment of any student, however for the good of each student and this class, the following rules must be observed:

Any student absent more than 4 (four) days, with 5 (five) tardies equaling one day, will be terminated. When excess absences are excused, each student may re-enroll in any future class session in order to finish the said course. Make up work will be allowed for all excused absences.

Students enrolled must be placed on probation if not maintaining a passing grade after three weeks, and terminated if work is not brought up to a 75. Any excessive abuse of O.S.H.S. rules, including insubordination, use of alcohol or drugs, or serious misconduct, will be cause for termination of enrollment.

All O.S.H.S. students desiring re-admission after termination must meet the terms and policies set forth in the current school enrollment agreement, catalog and attachments. Previously paid tuitions will be credited to the student's current account. All students requesting re-entry must have paid any tuition outstanding to the school. In considering maximum time for course completion after re-entry, the student must complete the units of instruction to be taken in not more than 1.5 times the normal time frame for completion of the same instruction.

STUDENT TERMINATION DATE: The termination date for refunds is the last day of actual attendance by the student. O.S.H.S. asks for notice of cancellation or a withdrawal in writing. A $25.00 penalty is charged at this time. If the student is below legal age, the parent or guardian must notify O.S.H.S. in writing. O.S.H.S. will refund monies due a student whether or not the student provides notice of cancellation or withdrawal.

O.S.H.S. REFUND POLICY

Three-day Cancellation:

a. All monies paid by an applicant are refunded if requested within three (3) days after signing an enrollment agreement and making an initial payment.

b. An applicant requesting cancellation more than three (3) days after signing an enrollment agreement and making an initial payment, but prior to entering O.S.H.S., is entitled to a refund of all monies paid minus a registration fee of 15% of the contract price of the program, but in no event may O.S.H.S. retain more than $150.00.

c. Students who have not visited O.S.H.S. facilities prior to enrollment will have the opportunity to withdraw without penalty within three (3) days following either the regularly scheduled orientation procedures or following a tour of O.S.H.S. facilities and inspection of equipment.

First Week. For a student terminating training after entering O.S.H.S. and starting the program but within the first week, the tuition charges made by O.S.H.S. do not exceed 5% of the contract price of the course plus $150.00 but in no event more than $350.00

After First Week. For a student terminating training after one week but within the first 25% of the program, the tuition charges made by O.S.H.S. do not exceed 25% of the contract price of the program plus $150.00.

25% - 50%. For a student terminating training after completing over 25% but within 50% of the program, the tuition charges made by O.S.H.S. do not exceed 50% of the contract price of the program plus $150.00.

50% - 100%. For a student terminating training after completing more than 50% of the program, O.S.H.S. may retain the entire contract price of the program.

Special Cases. In case of prolonged illness or accident, death in the family, or other circumstances that make it impractical to complete the program, O.S.H.S. shall make a settlement which is reasonable and fair to both parties.

Cost of tuition includes outside instructor fees, use of all of O.S.H.S. equipment, and live horses furnished by O.S.H.S.for the students to shoe.

Refund Policy #2 (Whichever benefits the student the most.)

Students who withdraw prior to the start of the course or program for which they registered, are eligible to receive a full refund of all monies paid minus a $100.00 administrative fee.

During the first week of classes, tuition charges withheld will not exceed 10 percent (10%) of the stated tuition up to a maximum of $500. When determining the number of weeks completed by the student, the institution will consider a partial week the same as if a whole week were completed, provided the student was present at least one day during the scheduled week.

After the first week and through fifty percent (50%) of the period of financial obligation, tuition charges retained will not exceed a pro rata portion of tuition for the training period completed, plus ten percent (10%) of the unearned tuition for the period of training that was not completed.

After fifty percent (50%) of the period of financial obligation is completed, the institution may retain the full tuition.

TRANSFER OF CREDIT

Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School does not offer transfer credit from any other horseshoeing school. We are a vocational clock hour school and our methods of teaching are unique to the horseshoeing industry. Most of our instruction is done hands on completely on live animals. We have been instructing this way for 30 years. We are in an association with several other private horseshoeing schools and we know some about their curriculum and their teaching methods we do not agree with. Through trial and error over the past 30 years our program affords our students the best education in horseshoeing.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE POLICY

Should a prolonged illness, accident, death of a family member or any other emergency situation arise that prevents the student from completing the six week session, arrangements can be made to withdraw and begin with another available class.
